There are few parents who love their kids as much as Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) loves his. Faced with a divorce that leaves him without custody of his children, Daniel does what any loving father would: he poses as an old, English woman to become the household nanny.

Now, before you make any judgments about Daniel’s psychological well-being (is Robin Williams ever not crazy?), consider that, as Mrs. Doubtfire, Daniel is able to cook (or buy catering) for the family, spend time on his children’s favorite activities, and oversee their study habits. Sure, he might be a little bitter at his ex (Sally Field), and he might take it out on her new beau (Pierce Brosnan), but Daniel’s love for his children is never in question, and any father who’s willing to cross-dress just to spend a few hours a day with his kids deserves a bit of credit.
