About The Movie: District 9 is the sci-fi directorial debut of Neill Blomkamp, formerly a commercial and short film director, about an alien race that touches down in Africa and subsequently finds itself enslaved by the human population. Though little is known of the actual plot, it's apparent that the film is a thinly veiled reference to Apartheid-era South Africa (Cape Town's District Six was the site of the forced removal of 60,000 of its black residents) and similar prejudice in Africa. The film is produced by Peter Jackson and stars William Allen Young and Robert Hobbs.
