The rule that no two Ang Lee movies are ever the same is confidently kept intact with the release of his latest, Taking Woodstock, a comedy about the true story behind the Woodstock music festival in 1969. It follows romantic wartime drama Lust, Caution and the Oscar-winning Brokeback Mountain on the director's CV and arrives in UK cinemas this week. As RT sits down with Lee to ask his five favourite films, he's keen to point out that if we'd asked him another day we'd have received an entirely different list. "It's a hard one to answer," he tells us. "I could give 50, or 100. I'll throw out 5 that come into my head." More...

This week at the movies, we've got holiday mischief ("Deck the Halls," starring Matthew Broderick and Danny DeVito), a phenomenon known as déjà vu ("Déjà Vu," starring Denzel Washington), a spiritual journey through time ("The Fountain," starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz), and a mystical guitar pick ("Tenacious D in: The Pick of Destiny," starring Jack Black and Kyle Gass). What do the critics have to say? More...
The willing suspension of disbelief is often essential to the moviegoing experience. This week's wide releases provide no such relief. We will be asked to believe that a fighter plane develops its own intelligence (and downloads mp3s -- most likely by such bands as Jet and U2). We will be asked to believe any kid with superpowers would have a rough time in high school. And -- perhaps the greatest stretch -- we are asked to believe that there would be a moment in history in which both Diane Lane and John Cusack would be dateless. Which films do the critics believe you should see? More...
This week?s three wide releases have some things in common: they?re all updates of stuff we?ve seen before, and they all deal with the supernatural. Which will cast a spell over the critics: a car that can love, a witch, or thoughtful, perceptive (but still bloodthirsty) zombies? More...

Production is scheduled to begin this September, and producer Steve Hoban says "It's going to be a classic horror film, but it won't be a gorefest ... This is an era of paranoia, so I think the timing could be really good, because this is a film all about paranoia." More...
