Viperna writes: on Mar 09 2008 07:46 PM Not surprised about 10,000 BC, special effects will always win when there is little too no other competition. If Bank job wasn't rated R it might have done a little better imo, not positive cause I haven't seen it yet. (Reply to this) |

ClearlyBlind2568 writes: on Mar 09 2008 08:02 PM 10000 BC was one of the wort movies I have seen in recent years. I'm sad to see the the general public doesn't seem to care bout quality anymore and just as long you stuff a bunch of CGI into any turd, it'll end up being number 1 at the box office. Truly, it's sad and it makes me worry about the response movies like "Watchmen" will get. (Reply to this) |

imecoli writes: on Mar 09 2008 08:43 PM "10000 BC" was soo bad, I was expecting them to actually say "we will wake up at 5:30 in the morning to attack them". the dialogue was way to advanced for the characters. This picture, aside from the CGI, is an excavation that should have been left uncovered. "The Bank Job" on the other hand was a very good movie, while alot of the actual details of what really went on with the robbery have not been made public, the story that is told is a good one, and you actually want to see them get away with it. A good bit of suspense in this film make it worth dropping $10.50 on. (Reply to this) |

Runtun writes: on Mar 09 2008 08:49 PM In reply to this comment (#1624267) Since it seems from your post that you saw '10,000BC' aren't you part of the problem with the general public not caring about quality anymore? I could see the film was a piece of **** from the first few seconds of the trailer. (Reply to this) |

AFuneralMaker writes: on Mar 09 2008 09:07 PM The most disappointing part of 10,000 BC is that I've yet to hear any reports as to if they actually do show the new Dark Knight trailer and if they do...why is there no bootleg up yet. (Reply to this) |

thereign writes: on Mar 09 2008 09:57 PM AFuneralMaker; They do show the Dark Knight trailer, but it's the same one they've been showing, featuring Heath Ledger. There's no new one yet. (Reply to this) |

thereign writes: on Mar 09 2008 10:07 PM P.S.: 10,000 B.C. had a "brilliantly exciting trailer"???? What in the flying f>uck have you guys at RT been smoking? You need to market it! (Reply to this) |

CoUcH ToMaToE DoUgIe writes: on Mar 09 2008 11:22 PM In reply to this comment (#1624433) yes, nblareson, Raven-Symone does have "star power" just like Miley Cyrus has "musical talent" or Hillary Duff had "star power". in other words, "star power" has for long time been losing voltage due to more and more horrible "stars" deluting the hollywood talent pool:( and everyone who is shocked that 10,000 b.c. made 37 million should remember this country has put suchfilms like "date movie", "norbit" & of course the smash hit "Alivin and the chipmunks" on top of the box office heap. folks, I have long given up believing the American public has any sense of taste left in their collective taste buds. maybe it's the popcorn, nah it's the crappy soda, yeah thats it;) (Reply to this) |

kissman24 writes: on Mar 10 2008 02:53 AM People will see anything if it's marketed right. The funny thing was that the trailers sucked and the reviews sucked, but it didn't stop people from flooding the theaters. It doesn't matter to the movie company if you don't like it. They just care that you paid to see it. Suckers. (Reply to this) |

reefermad16 writes: on Mar 10 2008 06:08 AM I knew it would open well, but next weekend it will hopefully pull a "Hulk" and drop hard, from the bad word or mouth and the opening of "Horton hears a Who". (Reply to this) |

Ashron writes: on Mar 10 2008 06:45 AM Well, I'll go against the grain and say that I actually thought the trailer made the movie look pretty good, like it could be a fun and exciting film. Yeah, a CGI fest, but there's nothing wrong with that on occasion. I was hoping the story would live up to it, but after reading the reviews I decided it didn't so I didn't bother to go see it. But anyway, the trailer did its job. (Reply to this) |

Elixor writes: on Mar 10 2008 06:47 AM Not at all shocked. Part of me wants to see the movie so that I can see how bad it is, but I can't allow myself to support this crap. The Bank Job was good, I'd recommend it. (Reply to this) |

xxLtCookxx writes: on Mar 10 2008 07:54 AM 10,000 B.C.'s box office numbers are just encouragement for studios to keep making crappy movies. Boo! I think The Bank Job was average because it wasn't marketed well. Most people I was talking to this weekend didn't even know what it was or that it was out. Then again, maybe I only know stupid people... :( (Reply to this) |

Dichotomy writes: on Mar 10 2008 08:57 AM I'm not surprised at all. This movie wasn't terrible, I've seen much worse. Maybe if you consider going into a movie without being pretentious caveman know-it-alls, you could enjoy something that is entertaining. So what if they speak English, have you ever read historical fiction!? It saddens me to see that people have completely lost their ability to suspend disbelief and just enjoy a film for it's entertainment value. Stop taking yourself so seriously. (Reply to this) |

sfsilver writes: on Mar 10 2008 09:35 AM I chose Bank Job and Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day over 10,000 BC and would heartily recommend both. The entire casts of both films give solid performances and both were entertaining and fun. (Reply to this) |

SlyDante writes: on Mar 10 2008 09:42 AM In reply to this comment (#1624899) ...Aaand cue the token "It's just dumb fun, so shut off your brain & enjoy it" guy who comes out to defend every action movie or blockbuster no matter how bad it is. Who had 22 posts in for the bet? (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Mar 10 2008 09:52 AM In reply to this comment (#1624899) Isn't it pretentious to call someone else pretentious for not sharing your opinion of this movie? Isn't it worse, even, -forgetting that one's opinion is entirely subjective- to label something as entertaining in the absolute, and to assume some kind of malfunction on the part of the viewer (i.e. pomposity, a supposed inability to "suspend disbelief") who thinks otherwise? Hmm. "Stop taking yourself so seriously," you say. Perhaps you should heed your own advice. (Reply to this) |

Dichotomy writes: on Mar 10 2008 10:45 AM In reply to this comment (#1624955) Are you telling me that people who PAY to see a movie just so they can talk about how bad it is are not pretentious? I'm not quite sure how one would miss the gist of the entire movie from the previews and be surprised that it wasn't a breathtaking example of cinematic genius. I reiterate, it SADDENS me. (Reply to this) |

Elixor writes: on Mar 10 2008 10:47 AM I had 10 posts. I'm surprised it took this long for the "It's just dumb fun" post to show up. There is merit to that argument, but again, it's been shown in the past that movies can be fun, entertaining, AND not hurt your head. You shouldn't have to turn your brain off to enjoy a movie. It doesn't have to be believable, but it should be good enough for a thinking person to buy (See Indiana Jones, Terminators, Aliens, etc.). The knee-jerk reaction will now be that I'm calling people who enjoyed the movie dumb, but I'm not. Some people don't mind not thinking about the movie they're watching, that's fine, but that's not everybody. If they made these movies fun, entertaining, and put some fricken effort into them so that they weren't such a mess for people who care about the plot, dialog, acting, on and on, then everybody would enjoy them and they'd be 'better quality' movies. This I believe is what a lot of us are complaining about. (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Mar 10 2008 11:04 AM In reply to this comment (#1625012) See Elixor's comment above. He makes a very good point. And come on, really, it.. "saddens" you? You mean to tell me you're sitting there with a big frown on your face because folks hated this movie? ;-) By the way, I doubt anyone here is actually paying to see a movie they've already made up their minds to hate for the simple purpose of getting to log on this site and gripe about it. And if so, "pretentious" might not be the best word to describe them. (Reply to this) |

alarson37 writes: on Mar 10 2008 11:56 AM This is why I almost never see movies opening weekend anymore. While the trailers and ads made this movie look decent enough, the fact that it pulled a single digit T-Meter should say everything you need to know about the movie. The Bank Job does look pretty good, will probably see it sometime this week, if only to support the one god movie that came out this week in wide release. (Reply to this) |

Coyote22 writes: on Mar 10 2008 03:32 PM You know its bad when your expectations going in are rock bottom and you still have an excruciating time. Of all the things in this world that could have been done with 70 mil... I just regret that I contributed to such a steaming pile of "manuc" feces and encouraged studios to make more like it. We did actually get a few good laughs. (Reply to this) |

jeanpaul writes: on Mar 11 2008 07:05 AM COMPARING to the tasteless, depressing and annoying movies which were worhsipped this year at the OSCARS (useless movie "No Country" being chief among them)-- I would PREFER to go and see any entertaining visual extravaganza like "10,000 B.C" (even if it could be better plotwise) any day of the week. Atleast there I wouldn't feel ROBBED OF MY MONEY after seeing terrible and useless movies like "No Country" or that hateful "There will be Blood". Thank you very much. 10,000 B.C.? Prefferable to these any day of the week, and weekends too. (Reply to this) |

jeanpaul writes: on Mar 11 2008 07:23 AM The American Public is not stupid, nor is thier taste in movies bad. In fact, its acutally REASSURING and hopeful that there are people out there who know to call the DOWNER "No Country for old men"-- what it really is -- USELESS CRAP-- and do not "automatically" follow the critical worship of such useless movies-- with hateful and downer endings like in "No Country". Atleast, movies like "10,000 B.C." give you some amount of payback for your ticket, by letting you be in awe of the visual aspect--- while useless and tasteless movies like "No Country" and other movies these critics worship--- take your ticket money, and RUB YOUR FACE in dissapointment, in the movies. 10,000 B.C. could be better. But there are FAR WORSE FILMS out there, and most of them were awarded Oscars by the idoiots at the Oscars. There, said it. (Reply to this) |

boomstick8283 writes: on Mar 12 2008 04:11 PM This debut if further proof that the paying public will just settle for anything that comes out, which speaks volumes. No expectations, no emphasis on quality, just the same old garbage masquerading as entertainment. That's good. Keep rewarding the fat cats in Hollywood by paying for this crap. (Reply to this) |
