Movie Info

Small-town doctor Paul Beecher (John Beal) is given some strange pills by a dying elderly researcher. Later, when Paul gets a severe headache, his young daughter accidentally gives him the mystery pills. He's later puzzled by a series of strange deaths in which all the blood was drained from the bodies of the victims and then discovers the old researcher was working on a project involving vampire bats. The horrified Paul gradually begins to suspect that he himself is the killer. ~ Bill Warren,

Unreels as a horror rewrite of Nicholas Ray's 'Bigger Than Life,' as Beal's addiction to his serum turns him into not just a literal monster but a monstrous father...

A minor horror chiller that is well-acted, but seems more amusing than scary.

Audience Reviews for The Vampire

A good vampire movie, not great, but enjoyable enough to watch.

This was actually a great movie. Not sure why they called it The Vampire, but there was 2 punvture wounds to the neck so guess it fits the bill. To me it was more like a Dr Jeckyell Mr Hyde type film, as after taking a pill, which was slipped to the great doctor by his very young daughter, he becomes a Mr Hyde type Vampire, after being bite you don't return from the dead your cells just kind of rot. But it was excellent over all. It comes in the MGM Midnight Madness Collection.
