Nightcrawler on "X-Men 3"
by RT Staff | January 31, 2005
Discuss Article
If Alan Cumming is excited about reprising his role as Nightcrawler in the forthcoming "X-Men 3," it is not apparent in the Q&A session promoting his new movie, "Son of Mask." "I signed for two films, so I'm going to [do it]," he says. On the many hours of makeup required to get him into character, he jokes, "I have this brilliant idea ... I want some kind of fabulous, crazy, terrible thing-some terrible accident happens to Nightcrawler and his face turns white." He says "X-Men 3" may be pushed back because no director has signed on and the script is not finalized. However, the movie will begin production "in the summer" because "they have to release it in May of 2006."

He sounds a bit ungracious about having to wear so much makeup. It must have been really bad, because I've never heard an actor moan about it in public before. Normally they just joke around and make light of having to put up with four hours of makeup every day. I hope they leave Nightcrawler out rather than cast someone else, because I really can't imagine anyone else playing the part.

Yeah, well, he also groans about the director, and that is not normal either.
