Friday Box Office: Hitch Scores!
There may not be any aliens in Hitch, but that doesn't stop Will Smith from scoring another huge chart topper this Friday. Hitch grossed an estimated $14.5M this Friday, according to Showbizdata.com. Its total this weekend could reach a whopping $42-45M, which would make it the 3rd highest February opener of all time between Hannibal's $58M and Daredevil's $40.3M. Hitch also stars Eva Mendes (2 Fast 2 Furious).
This weekend's other wide release debut, Pooh's Heffalump Movie, grossed an estimated $1.3M on Friday. It's total this weekend could be about $4-6M, which is a little bit less than previous Pooh debuts like Piglet's Big Movie and The Tigger Movie. It placed 7th.
Both films actually scored quite well on the Tomatometer. Hitch scored 72% on the Tomatometer and Pooh's Heffalump Movie scored 77%.
