on Feb 01 2008 05:27 AM Stop making them! JUST STOP MAKING THEM! (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 06:10 AM When stuff like this and meet the spartans come out, I think to myself: how can studios waste money putting out crap like this? Then I see the box office numbers and realize its because people are still stupid enough to pay 10 bucks a pop to see it. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 06:22 AM Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg aren't involved. That means that the film has the potential to be "ok". (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 06:39 AM All I know is three things: 1. Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg aren't involved. 2. The trailer contained no references to Paris Hilton or Britney Spears. 3. Leslie Nielsen is in it! Which means two things: 1. It might be worth watching if a friend has it on, but probably nothing else. 2. It'll probably gross less than Meet the Spartans because America's got the whole "good film = deserving of your money" equation backwards. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 06:44 AM I bet it's funnier than that X-men parody I mistakenly watched late one night. I think Jamie Kennedy was a Night Crawler like character, and Rob Lowe was in it. It's nice to see Zucker is still writing, the guy has to be in his 70's. He's written a lot of movies, but Kentucky Fried is still my favorite. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 07:31 AM Leslie Nielson does not a good parody make. See 2001: A Space Travesty. And cranking these out in the midst of the writing strike just leads me to believe that yes, these things are really being compiled without a coherent thought/plot/scheme/good idea. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 08:11 AM Craptacular! How do people still eat up spoof movies? Ignorance truly is bliss. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 08:17 AM Well, at least it isn't a totally hackneyed pop culture spoof. Hopefully it will go for more of an Airplane-esque or Spaceballs-like parody. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 09:09 AM I can't believe it, but this trailer actually made me laugh. I can appreciate the fact that Zucker co-wrote it, which means it has some potential. Also, unlike all the other stupid parody films, which tend to suck not only because they're badly written/directed/acted, but also because they're so unfocused by just grabbing at every pop culture reference possible...like most Zucker movies, this one seems intent on staying within ONE realm, deals with ONE storyline, and lets the laughs flow organically from that point. So while I am leery of any more parody movies, I'm willing to put my faith in Zucker's part of the writing and give this one a try. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 09:33 AM I HATE these kinds of movies! It's just random jokes and stuff thrown together for about an hours worth of retardation! NO MORE "Scary Movie" type spoof movies! And seriously, WHO keeps seeing these in theaters that gives them such big box office numbers? (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 10:01 AM the trailer's down. same thing happened on comingsoon.net yesterday. seems like external forces really don't want me to see anything related to this film. fine by me. that being said, leslie nielson is awesome. i met him last year and got to have a small conversation with him in an elevator about the difference between making a good movie and making an entertaining movie. he told me the biggest difference is the mood of the entire crew, actor's included. basically, if they WANT to make a good movie, it'll have some sort of redeeming feature. the question is, what was the mood behind this one?? (Reply to this) |

![]() on Feb 01 2008 10:39 AM trailer is working again! and actually i laughed at this trailer (minus the breakdancing part). this actually kinda has the potential to be good, too. No Aaron Setlzer or Jason Friedberg? AND Leslie Nielsen? hmmmm..maybe....just maybe... (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 10:43 AM In reply to this comment (#1546141) i just noticed that Data from star trek TNG is the scientist, too. hmmm (Reply to this) |

on Feb 01 2008 10:45 AM There are downsides to a society with so much disposable income. This is one of them. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 10:57 AM I HATE parody movies... and yet, this one doesn't look too bad. It looks more in the vein of "Airplane" and "The Naked Gun" then something like "Scary/Date/Epic/Not Another Teen Movie"... it looks like it might even have a narrative (get out! a spoof comedy with a narrative???). I'll keep an eye on it and look at the critical consensus when it comes out... (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 11:18 AM Still lame but I'd definitely take a well made movie over the complete hack job that Epic Movie, Date Movie, and Meet the Spartan's trailers showed me, I didn't actually see these movies, thank god. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 11:32 AM scary movie was funny. naked gun was funny. leslie nielsen is funny. the trailer made me laugh. who knows? maybe this could actually be a valid spoof? (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 12:03 PM At least this movie will make us laugh, looks fun (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 12:05 PM and drake bell is on it, and he's a good actor (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 12:12 PM i dunno, but that whole wood chipper bit at the end with the old lady and the dog was pretty good. *heh heh* (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 12:24 PM I chuckled once or twice during the trailer. I'm not gonna write this one off right away like I did to Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 12:25 PM I chuckled once or twice during the trailer. I'm not gonna write this one off right away like I did to Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 12:47 PM the trailer wasn't half bad. better than the trailer of most of the spoof movies... and superheroe stories have a lot of plots to play around with (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 12:59 PM Hmmm. No Seltzer? No friedburg? An actual chuckle in the trailer (nailgun)? I'll see how it turns out. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 01:20 PM Don't forget about Brent Spiner. It has to be good if Data is in it...I mean, Master of Disguise was good. Wasn't it? Wasn't it? (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 01:46 PM Coming Soon to DVD (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 02:24 PM honestly, it looks a lot better than at least the last 4 spoofs to come out recently. not to mention they guys at ain't it cool news love it and say thats how a real spoof should be made (they also hated Meet the Spartans) (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 02:38 PM If Christpher Macdonald takes the Nroman Osborne part and is the bad guy Ill admit it Ill get a kick out of it...hell always be Shooter Mcgavin to me (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 03:08 PM You see, THIS is how spoof movies should be made. A coherent (but still funny) plotline, David Zucker behind the camera, and no references to celebrities or pop culture events that stopped being funny long ago. Unfortunately, I don't think it'll do well at the box office, since moviegoers will assume that this'll be "just another 'Meet the Spartans'" and stay home. Oh, well. at least I'll see it. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 03:57 PM Ok, I found the nail gun bit funny. And the rest of the movie seemed somewhat coherent with a little thing called narrative and admittedly the obligatory break dancing scene was better than anything from Date/Epic Movie. It looks like this may be on the level of Scary Movie 3 which isn't really a bad thing. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 04:08 PM God you have to hate the humorless nerds on this site. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 05:16 PM The movie seems to have more potential than I originally expected from the title. A storyline, Leslie Nielson, and Drake Bell should automatically separate if from the most recent "parodies." (Reply to this) |
on Feb 01 2008 05:47 PM looks like it will be half way good (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 07:29 PM You mean.... ...this is the long fabled Superhero! movie from the makers of Airplane? It is!!!! Forget about all the other parodies like Meet the Spartans and Epic Movie. THIS is the real deal! (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 01 2008 11:09 PM I was about to say NOT ANOTHER ONE but this doesn't look as terrible as the rest. Won't see it prolly, but superhero movies deserve to be made fun of. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 02 2008 08:40 AM In reply to this comment (#1545527) ur rite on, Schumacherh8ter. u seem to be the only 1 who looks at things and THINKS!!!!!!! Aron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg RUINED 3 movies that could've had potential. they probrably laughed themselves to death when they watched the final copy. THEY HAVE NO TASTE!!!!!! they wish they could make a movie like scary movie but they CANT!!!!!! I'm glad they're not attached 2 this one. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 02 2008 12:07 PM God help me, it doesn't look that bad. Maybe it's the fact that it doesn't appear to be tons of random parodies strung together by gossamer plot. *Lightning Strikes me dead* (Reply to this) |
on Feb 02 2008 07:31 PM well leslie nielson, as much as hes one of my favorites, does not make a comedy automatically funny as he did in the 80's and 90's. just look at scary movie 4. however, ill admit i also laughed during the trailer, and ill agree it it has some potential to be far better than the worthless piece of ****s the "creative"duo of epic/date movie and meet of spartans made. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 02 2008 08:57 PM FINALLY!!! We get a spoof flick that is actually good. It may not be as high quality as "Shaun of the Dead" or "Hot Fuzz" (Even though those films are more like loving parodies), but hey, anything not touched by the unholy hand of Jason and Friedberg is good at this point. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 03 2008 12:23 AM I'm sorry but the only man I trust with parody movies is Mel Brooks. But he's smart enough not to do it on movies that are already crap in the first place. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 03 2008 09:49 AM DRAKE! The Josh movie must be right around the corner. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 03 2008 01:35 PM "i just wanna tell you both good luck, were all counting on you." (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 03 2008 01:38 PM noooO!..... just stop making movies like this..... whoever is making them is not funny, do they even know how much money they are wasting on these!..... scary movie was a little bit funny, i'll admit that i laughed a few times, but it was still not worth watching twice and it didn't need any sequels..... scary movie 2, no just no....... scary movie 3, okay so i laughed a few times but it was still stupid..... scary movie 4.... i'm not even gonna say anything for that one..... i watched the first 10 minuets of epic movie and i thought "wtf"..... i don't even know.... in other words, stop making these movies! :p (Reply to this) |
![]() on Feb 03 2008 01:41 PM none of the other writers from the other movies.... david zucker?.... okay, i somewhat take back what i said..... but i still don't expect it to be anything better than scary movie 3 (Reply to this) |
on Feb 06 2008 07:55 AM If it's scary movie 3 quality (which is looks like it is), I would be happy to spend money on this during a lazy afternoon (maybe not even matinee, but i would probably actively rent it). If it's scary movie 4 quality (which is certainly could be), i will enjoy just tuning in when it randomly shows up on any Premium Cable Channel. It it's like Date Movie/Epic Movie quality (which i hope to god it isn't), I won't enjoy it at all, but I will watch it to see how bad it actually is. (Reply to this) |
on Feb 06 2008 07:45 PM In reply to this comment (#1545484) Stop watching them, stop watching them! (Reply to this) |
on Feb 08 2008 01:13 PM badass! i love me some drake & leslie (Reply to this) |
on Mar 19 2008 01:21 PM There was potential in spoofing superheroes. Sadly, this will be the only shot at it, and clearly it is aiming for the stupidest among us. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 19 2008 06:43 PM Even though it actually looks to be a step up from Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans, I can't be sure. Sure Leslie Neilsen is in it but it could be just a trick into thinking this movie might actually be funny. This looks like a movie that me and my friends will go see maybe get some good laughs. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 20 2008 09:28 AM I liked the first two Naked Gun movies. They ruined Scary Movie after the Wayans brothers weren't involved anymore and all resulting spoof movies SUCKED. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 20 2008 04:55 PM Im sick of that loud mouth black lady that appeared in every Scary, epic-movie and always raises her voice two octaves to scream stereotypical ignorant African American behavior. Her tone is annoying, her acting is annoying and this movie is annyoing. (Reply to this) |
on Mar 21 2008 05:24 PM After the original trailer I was feeling OK about this movie, or I had some hope for it at least. Now after seeing a new trailer, I'm thinking this one will suck too. I guess we'll find out in a week. (Reply to this) |
