Jake Cummings (Jensen Ackles) and his friends are becoming increasingly caught up in the game, which somehow seems to know their thoughts, and which calls them on the phone to administer bizarre tasks that must be accomplished in order to "win." But "pathways" is also the word used to describe the connection between the devil and his human victims, and as the game spins ever more out of control, the world seems threatened by an outbreak of evil the likes of which it has never seen before. If you’re planning on hitting the crack-pipe this weekend, then here’s a good side dish.
...it's hard to imagine anyone walking away from the film satisfied (this includes the folks responsible for making the movie).
It has a nice little array of second tier actors, an interesting story, and a convincing performance by Jensen Ackles who keeps the movie afloat with enough competence to render him likable, even if it's genre confused as all hell...
...three or four bits of high-end grue surrounded by a whole lot of white noise.
