Wanna See Some of the "Pirates 3" Script?
by Scott Weinberg | July 18, 2006
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Are you so excited to see "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" that you'd like to read the first 50-some pages of a draft that may have been changed two dozen times by now? If so, head on over to JoBlo's, and he'll be happy to point you in the right direction. Me, I'm staying spoiler-free.

Frankly I'm not a big fan of reading screenplays or novelizations before settling in with the movie. Maybe I'm just nuts, but it seems to rob something from the actual ... movie. But hey, some folks dig the early scoopage, so feel free to dig in. I had to wait three years to see who Darth Vader actually was, so 10 months for "Pirates 3" won't kill me.

The third entry in the mildly successful adventure series hits theaters next May.

Heard of it?
I, for one, can wait for the third. I couldn't figure out why in the hell these people would want to go rescue Cap'n Jack. He's a total dick, totally unredeemable in this second flick, and if it weren't for Depp's great performance of a poorly written character and some amazing cgi, this movie trilogy would be almost worthless. Oh well, at least Geoffry Rush is back.

While he may be such character, I believe he redeemed himself with his actions in the end. But hey, just because he's one of my favorite characters to hit the screen doesn't mean I'm biased to what you think.

I agree with Sputnik22, Jack's character in DMC definitley lacked the "bad guy fighting on our side" charm that made him so great in the first one. I think they tried to redeem him with "barrel" scene, but it seemed like a cheap scheme to get us to like him. I don't know what they're gonna do with him in the 3rd.

movieguy, im pretty sure when he said "mildly successful" he was making a joke by completely understating it. I think its kind of funny how horribly you interpreted that

I PRAY the 3rd one is really good because the 2nd was really dissapointing. Hopefully it was just one of those filler movies thats only purpose is to lead to the 3rd. There were only about 3 characters that actually maintained a good preformance throughout. Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly were just horrible...and I know Kiera Knightley can act so what the hell happened? Orlando is just bad. He did his character in the first movie justice...and thats about it. And who wrote that script!?.....rant over.

Unfortunately if you read the comments attached to script, the head blogger of the site's now reporting that it was only a first draft-and that virtually all of it has been "drastically changed."

I myself do not like to read scripts before the movie is out. Just seems wrong

PS- Sucks about waiting that long to find out who Vader was. I bet the anticipation was killing you. This is coming from a HUGE SW fan.

just like kill bill the studios have coned us all in to seeing one movie twice! i hope the third one can make sense of all the crap in the 2nd. all the characters were poorly written...johnny depp was not at all redeambale in movie ( do u honestly think he would have stayed on the boat had he no been handcuffed) and keira knightley was a whore, remember there wheel fight, she led on half the crew...in fact i wouldnt be suprised if she hooked up with davy jones by the end!(by the way why is she sitting in the rain during the beggining?) crap is all i can say about orlando bloom. i liked the tia dalma character but i had to cringe when she forced to say lines like "you have a tuch of destiny about you" truly frightening. o well it didnt stop me from seeing it 2 times, by the way i find it truly hilarious how many people see this movie more than once...on my second time absolutley none of the audience was jumping at the shockers or laughing at the jokes which kinda begs the question why are we here?

Kill Bill was made that way so Quentin's vision wouldn't be compromised. It was either chop up the movie (very bad idea) or cut it in half as two great movies. I feel the same about Pirates. Now if only it had been Will who'd been eaten by the... oops, almost let a spoiler out. Wait, why would that matter, everyones seen the bloody thing

i only agree with agirlnamedmegan on the first part of her comment... the 2nd movie was as disapointing as kiera knightley not accepting the offer to go naked with the crew in the first movie... but seriously we can only hope that the 2nd one was a fluke and things really heat up in #3
