The film tells of the adventures of Albert Renaud, played by Eric Brunneau, a 25 year old actor seeking Hollywood fame. Albert Renaud's exploits begin in 1926 in Montreal Canada when he decides to travel to Hollywood inspired by the movie "The Sheik" starring Rudolph Valentino. Albert who is obsessed with playing heroes, carries in his inexpensive and empty luggage a 'Sheik' costume and a letter of reference written by his former acting teacher in Montreal Jane Pickford. She is an aunt to the famous actress Mary Pickford who together with Charles Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks and D.W. Griffith founded United Artists. While the train is crossing the desert Albert meets Jack Dekke, played by Roy Dupuis, a unique golfer who golfs at night and guides his shots with perfumed golf balls. In his train travels Albert also meets a young and attractive militant Mormon named Grace Carson, played by Emilie Dequienne who won an award in Cannes. Grace believes, with a hint of irony (as revealed in the original screenplay), that the response to the Polygamy practiced by the Mormons is Polyandry, to have multiple husbands. They fall in love. Albert, who is still dreaming of playing great heroes, through an unprovoked event at a train station becomes himself a hero when he finishes-off the greatest serial killer in California, worst than Jack the Ripper. In the middle of the desert they find the Asthma Hotel, a hospital/residency for the treatment of asthmatic patients. In front of the hospital and on the top of a post sits an Arc where Noah is trying to break a singular record by spending the most days on a pole without coming down to the ground. It is in this place that Albert reunites with Grace and they consummate their love. [More]
