James Cameron Still Deciding Between "Battle Angel" and a New "Project"
by Scott Weinberg | June 14, 2005
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Writer/director/technology enthusiast James Cameron ("Aliens," "The Abyss") was planning to get started filming "Battle Angel" at the end of the year, but The Hollywood Reporter indicates that the ever-busy filmmaker might just have another project lined up first. No information has yet been divulged regarding "Project 880," other than the information that "Battle Angel" might be taking a bit longer to adapt than previously anticipated.

Based on Yukito Kishiro's 12-part graphic novel series, "Battle Angel" is about "a nymphette who morphs into an action heroine." The director plans to begin shooting either "Angel" or his mysterious "Project" in December, and of course we'll bring you more news as soon as Mr. Cameron makes his decision. Regardless of which movie he ends up making first, the gadget-obsessed moviemaker will be utilizing 3-D technologies not unlike the ones used in Robert Zemeckis' "Polar Express."

What a waste
Cameron is one of the best directors of action movies,
and he wastes time doing other genres, in a time when good action movies
are almost extinct.

Perhaps his new "project" could be the new Halo movie coming out...

GOD THAT WOULD ROCK!

I love James Cameron; he made Aliens and that was one of the best movies ever.

That was the first 'project' that popped into my mind, the Halo movie.

Please do "Battle Angel", Cameron! Alot of people have been waiting for that anime to be made into live-action! Besides, anime-turned-live-action-film is rare in Hollywood.

Cameron would be perfect for whatever action/sci-fi script is around... his talent is undoubted. but I think he would be particularly great for a project that involves the transposition of manga/anime to a live-action full movie. What can I say ? I'm a fan of the source material, of movies, and of Cameron, so I can't wait for this one.

GUNNM movie. not 808 or Godspeed/Outland...errr So
So, Lightstorm Ent. is a production company... do they do any of the grunt work (artistry)?
Who would do the EFX? 3D? for them...ILM? Certainly not Weta Digital. Thinking back to the Terminator 2 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103064/companycredits)... or the more recent ones... who did the EFX? If the 3D is key, where could I get an impression of their work? (Lightstorm Ent) Ghosts of the Abyss? 3D...3D?...3D! WTF! soo, if I rent Ghosts of the Abyss, it's not in 3D, right? right. Why the gimmick extra in today's market? (diving ticket sales..hehhehhheh diving/Cameron) If Cameron does 3D, then CG Anime should get more theaters too. 3D.. dun da dun da JAWS3D is back!
