a waste of good material
I remeber playing the first Resident Evil and it scared me like no other game had before. If they had only used the ideas from the first game and captured the atmosphere it could've been the best zombie movie ever made. What a waste.

They need to stop making RE movies with Milla. Having a superhuman character isn't what Resident Evil. The games were survival horror, so it needs to be a scary movie.

I love how something people love so much, like the original Resident Evil game, can be loved for what it is, but then when somebody decides to offer the same experience to a potentially much larger audience, they change almost everything that people loved to begin with...

It's like ordering a five dollar shake at your favorite restaurant and being served a McFlurry.. Same idea, but not the same.

..dumb hollywood.

i agree with all you guys. the games were atmospheric survival horror, the movies are cheesy action films. the movies had the potential to be on par with Romero's Dead films, but they totally screwed the pooch. they need to dump Milla, scrap this film, and reboot the series from the beginning Batman Begins-style with talented and competent filmmakers who understand the material. but sadly, i doubt we'll ever see that happen. oh well, guess i'll vote by steering clear of the theater when this movie comes out.

More like ordering a five dollar shake at your favorite restaurant and getting a glass of milky turds. It's not that the games were all that scary, (scary, sure, but surpassed easily by Silent Hill) it's that the films don't even try to be scary. RE is Aliens remade as a feature length zombie-themed Sprite commercial by a flashily inept writer/director who couldn't tell a story of interest, intelligence, or weight if his wasted life depended on it.

don't get me wrong, they are great if you don't directly relate them to the game, but try to think of them as an extention of that games universe. however, they really should have had romero direct these. then MAYBE they would have had more of a feel for the game than the p.t. anderson films did

If you want to see a good Resident Evil movie, you have to watch a speed run of any of the games at speeddemosarchive.com.

Why do they keep making these??
I guess I can answer my own question: Aparently the films only cost a thousand dollars to make and for some reason enough people go see it to ensure another unbelievably bad sequel.

I couldnt believe it when I heard there was a sequel for the first one. I guess people love the game so much that they would buy tickets just because the film is named resident evil.
