The only matter that interests is the question of Fiennes's presence in this political lesson for children. [More]

What a silly old fart. This movie was not for children -- just because it skewered totalitarian regimes on both the "right" and the "left" Kauffmann doesn't like it. That's precisely why it was courageous, and why reviews like his, and so many others, are cowardly. Boo-hoo, it's not just about Bush and Reagan and America. It's also about Kim Jong-Il, Pinochet, Marcos, Ahmadinijad, Saddam, Pol Pot, Caucescu, Hitler, Mao, and Stalin. Even Maximillian, stabbed in a bathtub is referenced. Unfortunately, too many children, and adults, will miss all of these references because lessons like these are drubbed by leftist critics and blotted out from memory -- another issue satirized in this film.
