Critic Review - Atlanta Journal-Constitution

There are a half dozen people in colorful supporting roles all of whom have their own truths. And all of whom are far more interesting, as characters and actors, than [Connie Nielsen].

Compared to most of Hollywood's ditsy portrayals of women, Connie Nielsen did not do such a bad job, nor was the character a completely stupid creation; yes, all the other supporting characters and actors were interesting, perhaps "more interesting" but movies are made predominantly by males who want to see a few scenes of a pretty woman in a bathrobe. Don't blame Connie or the character too much. The makers of this film were brave in trying to make a film about Iraq. It was better than most of the crap that's been coming out in the last few years, and at least touches on the horrors of the American occupation of Iraq, and tries to give it a human face. A female journalist who actually had feelings for human beings, other than Americans was not a bad or preachy theme.
