The characters are laughable; the gymnastics are unattractive. There is nothing to recommend this film.

It's a pretty ridiculous story, and screenwriters Evan Archerd and Jeff Benjamin never figure out a way to generate any real suspense, drama or inspiration.

There hasn't been this much raw energy in a film since Rocky. On the other hand all that kinetic force is totally unfocused, leaving a pastiche of undirected elements that never forms a convincing whole.

Cast and crew are guided by the director from manipulative cliche to manipulative cliche, as everyone tries his or her best to overlook the fact that Gaylord, despite his athletic prowess, has little or no show-business talent.
