The attention paid to [Wahlberg and Deschanel's] piddling relationship woes vs. the entire fate of humanity is absurd. We never feel persuaded that they have a bond, much less invested in seeing them patch it up.
wow, well said. At least make the audience fall in love with their relationship first. There are some movies you watch simply because of the reputable people (wahlberg and shyamalan) associated with the movie, but boy I've learned the old age lesson: "Never judge a book by its cover". I expected every movie that wahlberg is in, to be exciting and crazy. But wahlberg has truly let me down. I've watched American Idol and obviously we've all seen some of the most horrible auditions. but watching those awful auditions, I've always thought to myself "don't those people realize how much they suck? they have got to be retarded to think that they are actually good"...Well that's the same thing im thinking about the people who directed and wrote this movie.
