Melissa Anderson
The tale of class-clashing lovers plays out predictably until the final act, which appears to have been inspired by Oscar Wilde’s observations that each man kills the thing he loves and nothing succeeds like excess. [More]

What this reviewer lacks is an understanding of Korean culture and what is to be gay in Korea where they are just now having an awakening. Only in just the past few years has there been any exposure whatsoever to even the idea that gay people exist. The intense culture of family and ancestry keep the closet door so firmly closed that suicide is often the way out. Then it's blamed on depression or business misadventures, instead of the real cause.

It's very refreshing to see this film. I actually very much enjoyed seeing some of "the oldest coupling clichés: nuzzling, piggyback rides, walking hand in hand along the beach. The tale of class-clashing lovers plays out predictably-" that are unpredictable in a Korean film, since I have only been able to watch it only in the context of a man and a woman. We are all the same. We are not different and are all equal. The differences are in that you have been watching your experience on screen for a long time, but I have not seen my experience. It is just now starting for me and it's very refreshing indeed.
Have you ever thought that "each man kills the thing he loves and nothing succeeds like excess" may be the only way to some how survive in Korean gay culture?

It's not an easy life, still, in many countries...
From a film perspective, a well-made "genre movie" (somehow predictable) always gives me a little movie fun. This director truly understands how the play with image and sound. You'll enjoy this one.
