Critic Review - Screen International

A comedy built around the belief that people speaking in foreign accents is endlessly funny, You Don't Mess With The Zohan is - how you say? - not good.

Yeah, the foreign accent gimmick was stretched out to the point of being ineffective towards the end of the movie, but, hey, Steve Martin's material, Jonathon Winter's material, Tim Conway's material (heck, I could go on forever) would not have been funny without the accents. The accents DO make them funny. Maybe the litmus test would be Jack Black playing the part of a Zohan from the midwest? Not.
