The Promotion Reviews
September 13, 2014
This was an incredibly surprisingly good film - I say incredibly surprisingly, because there is a typical trope in american comedies - two guys competing for a role/job/something, escalation and friendly rivlary turns into fierce chaos.
This was not that kind of film, and that's what's wonderful about it - it's more inspired by "the pursuit of happyness" than other comedy films of it's ilk. In fact, it's not really correct to call it a comedy - but not drama either.
Instead, you get a nice snippet of two guy's lives, both of whom are essentially nice, have some conflict but ultimately are equally good people, and more or less stay that way. It was a pleasant surprise, and slightly heartfelt.

Nice it didn't want to play low. It however looks rather mild & cold everywhere at the same time.

Dry and often awkward comedy, and no clear protagonist. But in a good way! Better than I expected.

It was ok, pretty slow, a bit dull, but some laughs

There's no laughs in The Promotion but there are a lot of heartfelt moments that made it feel better than the average slow corporate movie.

An underrated comedy that features funny performances, especially from Seann William Scott.

Fun story, good acting, great chemistry.

The Promotion has a lot of potential to be funny or even quite smart but in the end it just ends up leaving an awkward mess in almost every aisle.

Worst film I have ever seen
December 5, 2012
Deadpan humour when most of the jokes simply don't work & Seann William Scott is terrible here & I usually like him, Overall the movie has its moments & the ending wasn't the crappy ending I was expecting which is a good thing I geuss

It humanizes its characters and has some good laughs, the first half is a little light on humor but it picks up to a great second half.

So-so competitive business flick. Feel bad for Scott & Reilly as they are much better that this mediocre film.
