Blitz's fundamental embrace of human eccentricity shines through in a film that glows with optimism even as it reveals the dark side of a miracle.
Lucky has its moments, but even with good... performances its vile characters are never likable enough to make you laugh at (or forgive) their wickedness.
Instead of a searing portrait of luck, resentment, and opportunity, the picture wanders around picking up little nuggets of behavior and transformation, unable to manufacture a sweeping portrait of a controversial institution.
