Elizabeth Taylor: 1932-2011

Summary

American movie icon Elizabeth Taylor, the Oscar-winning actress whose life was also a prototype for modern celebrity, died March 23 in Los Angeles of congestive heart failure. She was 79. Taylor graduated from teenage stardom to become one of the most popular movie stars of the 1950s and 1960s, while her personal life would become a target for what we now call the paparazzi. She was also an activist for AIDS research and acceptance of people with HIV/AIDS, raising millions of dollars for research through the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. Back to Article

I've only seen three of her films but all were great: Giant, A Place in the Sun, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. The latter in particular showed her ability of range, seperating her from other stars of the era. A great acrtress: Elizabeth Taylor RIP.

A little later than the golden age but Ernest Borgnine is still alive too...and I'm gonna meet him this Friday. I'm so stoked!

I have trouble considering Eastwood golden age, I think he was right along that transition period from glamourous Hollywood to gritty Hollywood.

And if you're just talking ladies who could forget the divine Ms. Lauren Bacall. I guess Kirk Douglas might be a bit late to be considered golden age by some, but I definately consider Spartacus as that era. I was also watching greatest in film last night on ABC and one of the munchkins from Wizard of Oz is still around. How cool is that.

I haven't heard from Lauren Becall for a while so I hope she is doing good. Kirk Douglas was doing pretty good on the Oscars...all things considered. I did think Eli Wallich was dead though. I think Abe Vigoda is still alive though he isn't a classic movie star so much as a TV star.

Eli was on the Oscars too. He was just in the new Wall Street. He doesn't get around all that well, but he's still sharp upstairs.

Eli is great in everything he does imho. Sophia Loren is also not from the golden age of Hollywood either but a great call none the less.
