Yes, it was one of the first films of the sound era. Yes, they didn't utilize a musical score, because they felt the didn't need to given the birth of talkies and all silent films had music accompanying them. But, why must you feel a need to bring the score down just for that?? Look past it, and review the film itself!

And what's so good about the film? Not a whole lot. It's one of the most overrated horror films of all time.

Grow up, little fanboy. He did review the film. He even went further than he could have and gave you the HISTORY that lead to the film having its negative qualities. He clearly understands this movie inside out and he's entitled to his opinion (and being that he's a critic, to post it). I know the sting of having someone pick apart a film you love for all the little tomatoes to see. But reel in that passion, man! Because every time I read about someone crying because 100% of the critics on here don't agree with him, it makes me like that film just a little bit less.

While its certainly not the best horror film, it really is a classic.

Good acting, good script, good visuals and you ALSO want good score? It's not gonna be perfect.

It's a classic! Bela's presence as Dracula defined what Vampires might look like for decades to come. It's not Frankenstein...and it has a pretty weak climax...but it's a classic.
