Critic Review - Entertainment Insiders

Flashy special effects at the time still hold up decently today. Originally, the film was shown theatrically with a hand out that gives you definitions and background information. Before watching the film, it help if you brush up on the Hebert world by

I couldn't agree more. the movie holds up well considering its age but halfway through it falls apart. from the moment Paul Atreides gets chased by the worm & meets the desert people this movie tanks big time. the Icing on the cake was his sister or I should say the directors presentation of her. It absolutely ruins any chance of redemption. it was as if towards the end of production the director didn't care anymore and just shoved "whatever" together to get through it. Really a shame considering how esthetically pleasing most the film is and how expensive it would be to convincingly produce again today.
