You don't know anything about Kafka. Nothing about this film is even remotely tonally similar or thematically related to any single thing Kafka's ever written. I think all you know is that The Metamorphosis involves a guy turning into a bug, but the similarities end there. You're talking out your ass to sound smart

A lot of Kafka's work deals with tragedy, alienation, hopelessness and all of it's very existential.

All of these elements are in The Fly, in fact, it does indeed have a lot in common with Metamorphosis with how it deals with such things.

I do agree that the the critic is using Kafka to perhaps make himself sound smart, but if you don't see similarities with Cronenberg's work and Kafka, You're insane.
