Nicely written review, but misleading verdict. "Birth of slapstick"? Heard of a guy called Mack Sennett? I could be wrong, but Tillie's Punctured Romance (1914) is a lot closer to the birth of slapstick.

Yeah, not to mention, both Chaplin and Keaton were both working, and making masterpieces, years before this movie. If anything, this film was the END of Buster since it was the flop that made him lose creative control the rest of his career.
