The first and best of the three versions of the famous mutiny is a big budget production, a stirring sea adventure praised at the time for its narrative pull, great acting of the three leads, and exotic locales.
Gable makes a great Fletcher Christian, in his last movie without a mustache. The emotions which cross his face as Bligh commits one indignity after another upon various crew members is great 1930s dramatic acting.

Epic stuff, beautifully cast, handsomely mounted and directed with passionate conviction.
