Fox Movie Channel to Become Channel of the Apes

For the parade-averse non-football fans among us, Thanksgiving weekend is always a trying time -- but this year, Fox Movie Channel has your back: from the 27th through the 30th, the network is being taken over by damn dirty apes.

Yes, that's right: for four days, your cable lineup won't include the Fox Movie Channel -- it will be rechristened the Channel of the Apes, and will be showing the Planet of the Apes series in its entirety. And we do mean entirety: not only will FMC be airing all five of the original theatrical releases, from 1968's Planet of the Apes through the extended cut of 1973's Battle for the Planet of the Apes, but they'll also be showing the five feature-length TV movies culled in 1981 from the 1974 television series. Here's the lineup:

Planet of the Apes (1968)
Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970)
Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971)
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) (Extended Cut - television premiere)
Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973) (Extended Cut)
Back to the Planet of the Apes (1981)
The Forgotten City of the Apes (1981)
Treachery and Greed on the Planet of the Apes (1981)
Life, Liberty, and Pursuit on the Planet of the Apes (1981)
Farewell to the Planet of the Apes (1981)

This is all a celebration, as you may have already guessed, in honor of the series' 40th anniversary -- and to that end, FMC is also hosting the Channel of the Apes Sweepstakes, where prizes include the Planet of the Apes: 40 Year Evolution Blu-ray Collection (and a Blu-ray player to go with it). Mark your calendars!
