i am always surprised at how often people misspell "dalmatian."

love this movie. never saw the live action version and as much as i love glenn close, i always thought that was a part made for sandra bernhard... not that disney would have ever put her in a movie.

Hmm, My sister in law wont let my two nieces watch that movie because the characters in it are smoking. Such a shame they can't experience such a classic as children. oh well

if you look at that character now and when she was originally designed in the 60s, she's much more repulsive now. she is gaunt, pale, chain smokes and wears fur.

most of those probably weren't considered bad qualities forty years ago.

i also find it odd that smoking would be the quality your sister-in-law would try and protect her children from. i would think killing puppies for coats would rank higher.

Davis was genius!

(But the VILIAN is smoking..... doesn't that make it ok? It's not like it's at all appealing! Now, if the nice english hero couple were chainsmokers.... i might understand the concern)

I don't understand it either guys. I seriously doubt my 5 and 3 year old nieces are going to run out and immediately start buying up packs of cigs. But my sister in law is crazy, so that probably explains it.

It doesn't really make sense to forbid kids from watching a movie where the villain smokes, isn't the point that the parent should explain that she's the villain and that the stuff she does is bad?

Not that we'll probably ever see even a villain smoking in a disney movie, or any other kids movie for that matter. At least they didn't go back and digitally remove it like in some other disney stuff.
