Bittersweet tale of family relationships and a childhood friendship. Once again, the critics hated it because it rang of true human feelings and wasn't depressing as hell. Thora Birch and Elijal Wood were adorable.

Many teary-eyed moments in this coming-of-age film.

Why can't Don Johnson do more action movies?

I watched this for Elijah Wood, but really ended up being not just uninterested after the first forty minutes, but actually put off by just how depressing this movie was. Granted, it has a good message, it just didn't hold my attention.

This movie is boring, nothing really happen. It's just a waste of time

This movie can be split into two halves- the kids, and the adults. Thora Birch and Elijah Wood hold the movie together, being no less than their usual perfect selves in great roles, whereas Johnson and Griffith drag the film way down with their tedious and unbelievably trashy and melodramatic storyline that basically consists of them arguing, crying, and failing to get over their dead kid. All very sad indeed, but seriously boring to watch. The scenes with Birch and Wood are quality, and if they had been in it far more, the rating would be miles higher...

Pretty melancholy, but rightly so. A lot of movies that star a married couple fails, surprisingly because of lack of chemistry, but that's not the case here. A sweet and emotional film.

A decent coming of age story worth seeing if only for capable early performances from Wood and Birch.

Not interested in seeing this.

Well-made drama that boasts two appealing - and very, very young - performances from Elijah Wood and Thora Birch.

Sad, true, and wonderful storyline. Wonderful to see Griffith and Johnson playing together. The relationship between them makes the story go, even more than that of the dilemnas of the talented children--Birch and Wood
