Bombshell Harlow plays Crystal Wetherby, a stylish American widow who has her sights set on a penniless but posh Englishman, Claude Dabney (Reginald Owen, reprising his role from the original stage production, MAN IN POSSESSION). The Dabney family, owners of one of the oldest and most respected lingerie establishments in London, hopes that the marriage will set its dire financial situation strait, not realizing that Wetherby is impoverished and a golddigger herself. Just as things are about to work out as planned, the Dabneys' youngest son, Raymond (Robert Taylor), returns home from prison. Raymond's misbehavior has made him the black sheep of the family, and everyone fears that his shady past will ruin Claude's wedding plans. Attempts to send Raymond away backfire, however, when he accidentally encounters Crystal at the opera. Unaware that this is his brother's fiancée, Raymond follows her home...setting the stage for a series of hilarious romantic complications. [More]
