Movie Info
Eddie Murphy plays Marcus Graham, a hotshot ad exec who's also an insatiable womanizer. He is thus hardly prepared for his new boss, Jacqueline, played by Robin Givens. In terms of things romantic, Jacqueline is nothing more or less than a female version of Marcus -- and now, for the first time, he's getting the runaround. Boomerang boasts supporting-cast contributions from Halle Berry, David Alan Grier, Martin Lawrence, Grace Jones, Eartha Kitt, Geoffrey Holder, and Melvin Van Peebles. Watch

In Boomerang Eddie Murphy straitjackets himself in an ill-fitting comedy vehicle that's desperately in need of a reality check.
Top CriticThe general idea is to exploit a certain amount of role reversal, and Reginald Hudlin, who directed House Party, does a fairly good job of making this fun.
The film is far too slick to be ineffective, but its attempts to play with the sex-war theme are often unbelievably crass.
There's something paradoxical about the ease he radiates in playing a man who is supposed to be a smashing success. As an underdog, Mr. Murphy worked much harder.
For all the sex talk in Boomerang, there's very little nudity. The only thing naked is Murphy's vanity.
Boomerang is the funniest, most sophisticated movie of Eddie Murphy's career.
The cop-out conclusion doesn't dilute the playfulness the Hudlins are always interested in providing. I only wish they had the opportunity to work with Murphy again.
Then there's the input from Warrington and Reginald Hudlin, producer and director respectively, who succeed in creating a comedy which, unusually for a Murphy film, also exists around him.
More interesting than entertaining and too long by far.
Silly. Simple. Eddie was better than this.
Remember one thing...........coordinate!
Delivers laughs, and lots of them.
It's not even funny. Nor does it contain half the wit or charm as the old Doris Day sex comedies it so resembles. In fact, it's downright mean-spirited toward women, as is Murphy's wont.
Givens, Lawrence and Berry all put in enjoyable performances, and while Murphy can no longer match those memorable early roles, he's on good form here.
This movie has a charming Eddie Murphy, a slick and grown-up comedian. Most of his movies have no trace of this man.
A witless, sexist, offensive mishmash that is surprisingly inept, considering all the high-power talent involved.
