The couple's lifestyle is rocked when they meet their new neighbors, financial advisor Eddy (Kevin Spacey) and beautiful Kay (Rebecca Miller). They spend time together, but Richard starts to suspect that all is not quite right when Eddy throws himself in front of a truck in order to collect the insurance settlement (which he gives to Richard to pay $25,000 in debts), and then proposes wife-swapping. Priscilla, who doesn't understand why Eddy and Richard have quarrelled, chastises Richard for his conservatism, and he soon ends up in Eddy's bedroom sleeping with Kay. Soon after, Richard finds himself embroiled in a murder plot that involves a double indemnity policy, a woman who appears to be dead but may still live, and a mysterious radio tape that could provide the clue to the whole mystery. Following the late 1980s trend in urban thrillers, CONSENTING ADULTS is reminiscent of such films as FATAL ATTRACTION and SINGLE WHITE FEMALE. [More]

  • Consenting Adults
  • Academy Award(R)-winner Kevin Kline (1988 Best Supporting Actor -- A FISH CALLED WANDA) and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (A PERFECT STORM) heat up the screen in CONSENTING ADULTS, the spine-tingling sexy thriller that seduced audiences and critics alike. When two couples living next door to each other grow too close, one of the husbands risks everything for a passion he can't resist -- his neighbor's wife. His temptation traps the foursome in a shocking web of betrayal and murder. And now accused of a crime he didn't commit, he must race against time to save his family from a shocking fate. Directed by master of suspense Alan J. Pakula (PRESUMED INNOCENT), this erotic thriller twists and turns as tension builds to a sensational heart-stopping climax.
