Benefits from a lively lead performance by the miscast Denzel Washington but doesn't come within light years of the book, one of the greatest American autobiographies.
I have noticed whenever I see a bad review I don't agree with on rt it is usually from this guy, Ed Gonzalez from Slant magazine, or Ken Hanke from some newspaper in North Carolina who I only know from the fact that he seems to have the exact opposite view on movies that I do. Let me just say that in my humble opinion, that this guy may be very intelligent but he has very bad taste in movies.
I always give a critic slack for having an opposite opinion from my own, but I've never seen a more ridiculous statement from a movie critic than this one saying Denzel Washington is miscast in this movie. It's akin to saying Stallone was miscast in Rocky, or Harrison Ford is miscast as Jack Ryan. I can't imagine Denzel NOT being cast as Malcolm X in 1992 for so many reasons.
Ditto! You should have seen the confusion on my face when I read that line. What? Really guy? Who would have been better? Hmmm...let's see. I got nothing buddy!
