I'm a huge fan of Sly's campy fans-oriented projects, and I'm always a sucker for new old-school actioners. Moreover I kind of admire him for how he responds to fans' needs and is still busy working on so many films.

For me it's the opposite. I find it kind of tragic watching Sly try and resurect all these movies that belong buried in the past - like an aged prize fighter clinger to his older glory, you just want to see him retire already instead of piss on his legacy. Rocky Balboa was decent but Rambo was totally unecessary, and the expendables looks pretty terrible.

Oh, my... do you like action movies? If so, what kind?

I have to agree with Gigaherc here! Stallones old age revival has so far kicked so much *** its unreal! Rambo 4, was better than all the originals for me, and even the first blood, which was my favorite of them all. I think Rambo-4 was gutsy, and i like how he took a slight back seat and allowed the mercs come in and kick some butt too. Rocky-4 was also decent and played out a lot better than Rocky-5. If you ask me, Sly's maturity has added a lot more wisdom to his decisions. How long do we have to wait for the likes of Jason Straitham and Vin Diesel to kick *** old school. How many times can one watch Fast & Furious films? Once seems more than enough, Rambo 4, I have seen at least 7 times already. It just gets better with each viewing.

That all said, I prefer it when Sly comes up with sequels or new ideas like expendables etc, remakes are not really cool to me. Unless theyre necessary.

If there's one film I want Stallone to stay way from as a fan, it's the Death Wish remake. Why? Bronson's so good in the first and it still holds up. Plus, why Stallone? If they were remaking it, I would prefer someone much younger. Anyway, I really want to see Stallone make the Poe biopic after he's done with all his action stuff. I think it'll be great and I hope he proves the haters wrong. Can't wait for The Expendables! **** ya!

And for all you Stallone haters: Stop watching his films if you don't like him. Rocky Balboa was a great film and he gave strong direction to the film both infront and behind the camer. Also, Rambo was just a great action film, plain and simple. For those who like their action toned down and pussified, stick with that idiot they call Bourne.

I like the action-revival kick that Sly's on, but I think he's selling himself short as an actor. Of all the talent that was in the movie Copland, he was by far and away the standout.

I agree cfm, he was awesome in copland. I really like his directing now though, same with Mel Gibson and Clint Eastwood, their directing is amazing! Hopefully "When" Sly's acting/actionman days are over, he will slip behind the camera and see what he can deliver.
I saw Sly on a talkshow and he looks back at both his earlier films like Rambo-3 etc and even the way he looked and said, what was i thinking?! in jest. So he is obviously aware of how bad it was all back then, hence the maturity and change of shape in his last 2 flicks. Infact, if Sly wasnt even in Rambo-4 at all, it still would have been a great lil war movie.

I just thought of a DEATH WISH remake when the Brian Garfield paperback dropped out of a box two days ago; wild.

STALLONE is one of my favorite heroes--he's had to overcome disabilities too and he's from my hometown PHILADELPHIA.

A serious; Oscar (Academy Award winning) calibre Edgar Allan Poe movie is IMPORTANT.

We need to start grooming Academy Award Winning Films for next year TODAY; SHOOT FOR 20 Academy Award Winning (potential) screenplays/productions.

Hey STALLONE if you stop by PHILLY look me up; YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!
anyone can OVERCOME anything to fullfill a dream

Besides you have to come to PHILLY anyway for the Edgar Allan Poe movie: PHILADELPHIA, PA; BALTIMORE, MD; RICHMOND, VA;

and parts of EUROPE (Poe's stepfather sent POE overseas after POE's mother died)

I'm sorry but Rambo 4 was nothing more than a pointless compilation of senseless deaths. The only good Rambo was the original, the next sequel sounds like it might have some promise, considering its supposed to bring Rambo back stateside, but still, even by action standards, Rambo 4 wasn't that good.

And Cliffhanger? Does that movie really need a sequel? What else is there for them to do w/ that one? Do we not remember the atrocity that was Vertical Limit? I could easily see this movie going into that territory unless Stallone can secure a decent budget, which won't be easy to do.

As far as Death Wish goes, that movie has already been remade like a thousand times. Most recently: Taken. I thought we were done w/ the whole revenge movie tangent.

I just can't wait til we get to the real crappy Stallone remake; like Nighthawks or Cobra, and who could forget, I think Over The Top is due for a sequel.

Sadly War often is a pointless compilation of senseless deaths. Think Stallone was going for realism and hit his target more than he missed. As an old school action film I think Rambo worked on several levels and I enjoyed it, but I can easily see how it wouldn't be someone's cup of tea.

Would love to see a Poe biopic and even more would love to see The Telltale Heart or The Black Cat made into a film. Very few things make for an interesting biopic better than a healthy mix of madness and genius and Poe had those in spades in both his works and his real life.

The top of this mentions an EDGAR ALLEN POE biopic. . .

Please, no.

I love Poe. I hope one day to go to his grave on his birthday and give him some liquor. . .

I don't know, there is already a movie in production that follows Poe's life, its kind of a crime thriller about a killer renacting deaths Poe style(the pit and the pendelum, think 7even) Sure it might not be a straight up biopic, but it sounds like more fun. I don't know if anyone is familiar w/ Poe's life, but its kinda depressing in that tortured artist sort of way. A traditional bio wouldn't do him justice - what made poe so fascinating was his demented imagination. I don't see that translating well on to film unless you take some liberties w/ reality; its kinda interesting when films mix fiction and non-fiction.

I kinda pictured it working best as a kind of dark Finding Neverland where they mix in his real life events with his creative works and how each effected the other. Maybe start it out with him laying in the gutter where he died and a voiceover of "Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary..."

Couldn't think of a more fitting intro, but remember, this is Stallone we're talking about, I can't see him being that introspective.

Never saw Finding Neverland, was it really that good? I already knew a little bit about Barry through my psych class; my professer told us he never dev. his sexual organs because of his traumatic childhood - when his brother died his mother practically disowned him. Damn tragic when you think that is how he got inspired to write one of the greatest childrens novels.

I don't know, I think Stallone gets a bit of a bad rap because people know him for Rambo and Judge Dredd and the like, but Rocky I & 2 and First Blood I would say are pretty introspective movies. Basically I think Stallone is probably more introspective than people give him credit for or that the way he talks and looks people assume he is.

Finding Neverland is one of my favorites, but I would say your college professor probably jumped to some pretty serious conclusions there. I've read a lot of books on Barrie and sorta made a study of him while I was living in England and Scotland where he's a much bigger historical figure than in the US. The truth is despite the many psychological studies and beliefs that have been promulgated about him very little is actually known for sure because for such a public figure he was very private in his personal life. Don't think there's enough historical data to show that Barrie's childhood was any more or less traumatic than most other Scottish children of the time and while his brother did die there's no evidence his mother disowned him. Your professor is probably basing it off an anecdote Barrie related to acquaintances and loved ones about after his brothers death dressing up in his brother's clothing to get his mom's attention and her reaction to it which I think is pretty understandable under the circumstances. Also it's hard to distinguish the truth because of Barrie's own propensity to see the world as he would have it, instead of how it may have actually been. Really a classic case of not letting the truth get in the way of a good story. Peter Pan is actually inspired by a relationship he had in his adult life with the Llewelyn-Davies family, which is the portion of his life that Finding Neverland explores brilliantly in Barrie's own fashion of taking what it wants from the facts and making of them a wonderful fictional narrative.

Fan of Sly but a Cliffhanger remake seems a bit early and not needed. The movie still holds up today with a great villan proformace by Lithgow.

I could get into a deathwish remake, I am aware of the old movies but never really watched them from front to back.

I don't know about a Poe movie, I mean it prolly needs to be done but man did that bastard cause me a lot of pain in college!
