Fatal Instinct is an Airplane-style spoof of the late-'80s, early-'90s cycle of erotic crime thrillers. Setting the plot in motion is a kinky murder. Armand Assante plays the cop assigned to the case; he's also the prosecuting attorney; the "Sharon Stone" part is essayed by Sean Young. A dash of Body Heat is thrown in the pot as Assante's wife Kate Nelligan plots her hubby's demise. Tony Randall has a bit as a judge, while the film's semi-mocking jazz score is provided by Clarence Clemmons --

The filmmakers have provided critics ample artillery by prominently featuring a skunk in this thuddingly flat spoof of erotic thrillers.
It's a real pity, because Reiner has certainly been funnier and more inventive on other outings and Sherilyn Fenn makes a winsome gal Friday.
A collection of gags that vary much too wildly in terms of timing and wit.
Small jokes are buried under elaborate setups. Sight gags are repeated to the point of exhaustion.
Maybe you'll be in the right mood and like this stuff. It looks good, and the actors are several notches above the usual parody cast in ability. And yet...
Lacking in both inspiration and ingenuity, it doesn't so much spoof the conventions of the genre as dumb down famous -- and in some cases, forgotten -- scenes from a slew of other movies.
Naturally the film pokes fun at the conventions of the film medium as well, but the routines are endlessly protracted.

Many jokes cracked me up.
The gags come fast, but the tempo still seems curiously languid.
...not as edgy as a spoof of hard-nosed crime dramas ought to be.
Scattershot thriller spoof, but Assante's performance is really amusing. Carl Reiner's done (a lot) better.
I almost feel guilty about some of the places I laughed.
Mostly lame and not particularly funny.
The result is pretty much what you expect: some really dumb stuff that will make you laugh and a lot that won't.
This outrageous spoof movie is a little too much for it's own good most of the time, so it's not as funny as it could be. Overall, it's okay, though, it's entertaining enough for the most part.

Sex, murder and revenge were never this funny. I must say not one of the best spoof but not bad. It has alot of LOL moments.
