It's not just the fact that this movie layed the groundwork for animation. Your review is a rant about nothing. I can seriously say I dont understand what you are getting at. The movie used imagination, art, and creativity never seen at that time. Even by today's standards, Snow White still stands out as one of the greatest movies ever recorded.

So... because you believe Snow White offers no noticeable reason for little girls to look up to her, you leave your bloated, pedantic, and negative review?

Your grasp of the English language does NOT make you a critic. I now know to disregard any film you dislike, as I will most likely enjoy it.

p.s. you sir, are a HACK!!!

You said nothing about what specifically u didnt like about the movie. If you think fantasia and others are better, thats fine. But dont put snow white in a bad light just because you feel that they reside in the shadow of snow white. (which i certainly dont think they do).

Such an attention-seeking and offensive review. It may state that this film has a 97% rating on here, but i'm sure that everyone agrees with me that it's still 100%, despite your ignorant review.

You know...I have never bothered making an account on here because I figure someone will say what is exactly on my mind...
However, this is an extremely special case. BECAUSE you sure have outraged me more than anyone else has done in my life! I felt tears of anger trickling down my face as I read your disgusting, attention-seeking, should-not-even-count-as-a-review review.
I hope you fill with SHAME knowing you ruined this beautiful movies well deserved 100%.

F**k you.

Slant magazine are trash they are all little attention seekers that think it's somehow "cool" to trash a classic and it never amounts to anything.

Snow White is a masterpiece and it has that title for a reason!

Wow. I am disgusted with all of these commenters. You've all the reviewer to go f*** himself, to kill himself, you've called him scum, you say he's what's wrong with America today.

What the F**K is EVERYONE'S PROBLEM? Is it because he had the temerity to express a different opinion? Is that why you're throwing vicious personal attacks at him? "You ruined a perfect 100%! How DARE you not conform! How DARE you not think the same way as everyone else!"

Oh, and for those of you saying "Do you realize we wouldn't have animation if not for this?" a.) He ADDRESSED that. He specifically said he thinks it gets too much credit on account of being the first. He's criticizing it as an individual movie. b.) Learn something about causality, for godsake. Being the FIRST of something does not make it the CAUSE of something. If we didn't have Snow White, something ELSE would've been the first feature length animated movie.

I hope you're all proud of yourselves. Viciously attacking someone for expressing an opinion you don't agree with? Calling for that opinion to be censored? Saying that person should kill themselves? No. Eric Henderson isn't what's wrong with America today, YOU are.

This is a well written review. However, I feel the author misses the significance of the film and thereby renders his critique as sub-marginal. If one wants to compare Snow White to more modern fare, it certainly pales in comparison to the level of development in story, character, and technical artistry that has become common with more recent Disney offerings. However, the same argument could be made for any film that was released during that era. What a critic should be looking at is what a movie accomplished in its time. Films like Birth of a Nation (a technical marvel despite its racist tone), The Jazz Singer, and even Citizen Kane would seem dated today, but at the time they were released were considered revolutionary and should be evaluated in that light by current standards . Any critic who would not take historical context into account when reviewing a film is simply not doing their job.

It shouldn't be judged on modern technical terms, but writers and directors were just as capable of making films with good stories and characters as they are in 2011. Pinocchio was released just four years later, and makes a HUGE leap forward in that regard. Snow White is an important film, but I think it can still be judged as a film, and not let its technical achievements excuse its failings.
