Robert Rodriguez Directing the "Jetsons" Movie?
Summary
I've always wondered how "The Flintstones" was profitable enough to spawn a sequel, yet nobody ever got off their butt to make a movie out of "The Jetsons." Well, it looks like someone finally is. Back to Article

Mik-e writes: on May 09 2007 07:43 AM I hope they don't make the characters have the same hairstyles, clothes, etc. I know I sound like I want the movie to be different from the tv series, though its just that I don't want to see it turn out like The Flinstones Movie. (Reply to this) |

Decade_e_a writes: on May 09 2007 05:08 PM I really wanna see William H Macy as george. Nicole Kidman would be great as the wife, Christina Applegate might be too old, but she'd be good for the daughter.... The son might be... Andy Millionakis. I dont know. As long as the robot ISNT Rosie O Donnel, I think I'll be ok to watch it. >>===aaron==> (Reply to this) |

alohajoe1007 writes: on May 10 2007 05:55 AM Let's not go there I liked the cartoon when it first came out despite the poor animation of Hanna Barbera. HB was a great filler (for children only) during the dark ages of animation when Disney abandoned their animation dept. in what was already a pattern of doing the wrong thing at ever turn. However as I got older (12 yrs. old) it became to childish for me. I think most of it's appeal was the future it painted. But do we really need this? There are you guys who will insist "they be true to their source". Why? If they go down that road and copy the cartoon it will be another Flintstone disaster. I've had enough of recycling garbage of "the good old days". Do we really want to keep searching for more Scooby Doo's? I don't. Let the dead lie for Christ's sake. Most of these retro tv to big screen movies work out poorly, not all but most and certainly anything Hanna Barbera needs to be left alone. (Reply to this) |

kungfu_sage writes: on May 10 2007 06:18 AM actually doing jetsons the same as the cartoon, with the future that people imagined back then, could be cool if they do it right. The Incredibles for instance were supposed to live in the year 2005 as imagined by the people of the 50's or so it said on the dvd and that was an excellent world I thought for their adventure to take place in. blank blank writes: on May 10 2007 11:22 AM why in god's name are they doing this? this movie can only end badly, especially if they are going to dye the actor who plays george's hair red. i never liked the jetsons much as a kid, as i couldnt relate to the over-worked clumsy father main character. besides, has anyone actually seen spy kids? it is beyond me why RR keeps putting out craptastic family movies when he could be making awesome adult entertainment... they actually offered him the superman reboot, but he turned it down because he said he didnt want his superman "on every kid's underwear" (or something to that effect)... but now he goes and does more kid stuff? Demmi writes: on May 11 2007 06:44 AM If this is true it's a bad idea, no movie that i can think of has worked when it comes to bringing animation to live action. Family films are not RR's thing, he should stick to the ultra violent adult films he does so well. If RR does make this then I hope QT won't go the same way, obviously QT wouldn't make a family film but you do wonder what it would be like if he did. (Reply to this) |

templetonrat writes: on May 11 2007 01:11 PM I love William H Macey but I sure don't see him as George Jetson. My first choice would be Tim Allen but I think Jeff Foxworthy could do it. More important though is Mr. Spacely. No one could do that role justice like Danny Devito! (Reply to this) |

AlfromGboro writes: on May 13 2007 07:08 PM Danny Devito for sure! William H. Macy would be good. I think Will Ferrel would play George Jetson a little to slap sticky! Jim Carry would be a gamble but has more than enough ability to pull it off. Hears one to ponder. Tom hanks as George Jetson. I know he is a bit old now for the part but Mr. Hanks has the ability to transform his body to fit the roll. Just look at Castaway or Philadelphia. Even his voice is similar to George Jetsons. I am afraid, along with seemingly everyone else in this forum, that it will be turned into a Flintstones-like movie. Maybe Robert Rodriguez would be just radical enough to keep it from that but if SpyKids is any indication of what the Jetsons would be, we don't need it! Keeping the movie true to the original vision is impotant for this movie. The vision of the future from the perspective of the 1950's is the look the Jetsons needs to keep for the set design and computer graphics. What's Peter Jackson up to these days? (Reply to this) |

aliceomega writes: on May 29 2007 04:42 PM With Rodriguez in a 'thing' with Rose McGowan I wouldn't be surprised to see her as Jane. She'd be more likely to do the role, and I think she could (maybe) pull it off. (Reply to this) |

Presents: The Jetsons Starring: Trey Parker as George Jetson (or) Steve Buchimie as George Jetson Laura Harris as Jane Jetson Frankie Muniz as Elroy Jetson Britney Spears as Jane Jetson Dan Aykroid as Mr. Spacely John Goodman as Mr. Cogswell (or) Robin Williams as Mr. Cogswell Howie Mandel as Astro Eric Idle as Henry the Janitor Martha Stewert as Rosie the Robot If WB is thinking of re-writing the roots of the characters (like in the Honeymooners remake): Marlon Waynes as George Jetson (or) Eddie Murphy as George Jetson Hallie Berry as Jane Jetson Ashanti as Judy Jestson Noah Gray-Cabey as Elroy Jetson Sherman Hemsley as Mr. Spacely (or) John Leguizamo as Mr. Spacely Bernie Mac as Mr. Cogswell David Allen Grier as Henry the Janitor (or) John Witherspoon as Henry the Janitor We left out Rosie because if you remember the Jetsons were too poor, (and are still concidered lower middile class in the future) and they couldn't afford a robot maid. But if you must. and I mean if the movie screams, and begs for it like a crippled little Gilbert Gottfried... Rosanne Barr as Rosie the Robot But please... I beg, NO Orbitty! Cast Adam West in a dog suit for Astro if you wish, but for the sake of all that's pure and holy, DON'T cast an Orbitty!!! (Reply to this) |
