Consensus: Pocahontas means well, and has moments of starling beauty, but it's largely a bland, uninspired effort, with uneven plotting and an unfortunate lack of fun.

Reviews for Pocahontas
Pocahontas can't get stirred dramatically for political correctness, the finale will please nobody, and the songs are duff. That said, there are enough incidental felicities to pass the time pleasantly.
...Belittles the true historical figure of Pocohantas by reducing her to the status of sexy Native American Barbie.
One of the worst animated films in Disney history, you'll get more genuine history out of a pop-up book
Not only historically dubious, but the dullest Disney animation for years.
As for the songs, they're guaranteed to keep your shoes glued to the floor
True to the film's idealized spirit, directors Mike Gabriel and Eric Goldberg similarly fend off history.
Adult viewers, spoiled by what has come before, may feel that this film, which relates the legendary romance between a chief's daughter and English adventurer John Smith in the New World, is more by-the-numbers than inspired.
All Disney has really done in its disappointing 33rd animated feature is revive the stereotype of the Noble Savage.
Disney's well-meaning solemnity seeps over the characters like spilled ink.
