An attempt to redefine cutting edge horror, this techno-vampire pic is spoiled by the same weak storytelling and flashy, computer game visuals.

Consensus: Though some may find the plot a bit lacking, Blade's action is fierce, plentiful, and appropriately stylish for a comic book adaptation.

Meanwhile, the modern-day technologically advanced vamps he's targeted are in pursuit of his special blood type needed to summon an evil god who plays a key role in their plan to execute the human race. A dark action thriller from the director of Death Machine and the writer of The Crow: City of Angels and Dark City with plenty of blood and guts. [More]

Reviews for Blade
Resoundingly failing to even partially realize their protagonists, plots and backstories!
For most of its two-hour running time it simply flings a barrage of horrors at the audience.
Though slick and diverting in some aspects, increasingly silly pic has trouble meshing disparate elements -- horror, superhero fantasy, straight-up action -- into a workable whole.
After two grueling hours of slicing and dicing, I hardly savored this time not well spent.
Few of Blade's characters are fleshed out beyond their comic-strip borders.
Blade has the capacity to dazzle, but it also will leave many viewers dissatisfied.
A two-hour collection of jokes, stunts, chases and bloodlettings in search of a story or at least one compelling character.
...comic book silliness all the way, highly predictable, gory and violent, made respectable by its high-energy quotient and its high-gloss finish.
Breathlessly delivered backstory, overdesigned sets and flat, suspense-defying direction!
