Oded Fehr Discusses the "Mummy 3" Possibility
by Scott Weinberg | July 06, 2006
Discuss Article
While chatting with the IGN FilmForce folks on the set of the next "Resident Evil" flick, actor Oded Fehr spilled a few early beans regarding a new "Mummy" sequel that might be happening. The key word here being "might."

From IGNFF: "The Mummy movies are what turned me into a working actor. I love them. I think they're great adventure, fun movies," Fehr began. "I would love to do another one, if they did one I'm in, but from what I know, I spoke to Stephen Sommers about six months ago or whatever. He called me and he said the writing – he's not involved in the writing process I don't think – they're writing one that is very different."

"That's a totally different time. Rachel [Weisz] and Brendan [Fraser] are in it, I think, but it's a totally different style. I think it takes place in a different place and I think they're the only ones they planned to come back. But I have no idea what's happened since. But I love The Mummy movies and would have done another one, of course. I feel like I owe The Mummy movies my career."

The first two mummy movies were reasonably entertaining, but I had nearly forgotten about them.

I can't say I look forward to another, especially with the primary writer not involved.

If they make it, then we'll probably have another kernal of crap to wade through in the upcoming summers.

The second one sucked and is best forgotten. A third would be no better.

I really hope that they make another one, I liked the first two. The Scorpion King was a rediculous spin off that should never have been made. They could always have Rachel Weisz's character called in to take a look at an artifact and there could be a new mummy with new powers. I can't wait!

What scares me is this line: "...they're writing one that is very different." Considering that the first two are fun, popcorn flicks, how different would the third one be...

Analyzing these movies like a fuckin chemistry problem. The Mummy movies are great all the actors worked well together plenty of stuff exploding cool special effects and fight scenes with good plots and all. Its fun and awsome to escape reality in these movies.
