Critic Reviews for Defying Gravity
Keitel's endearingly naive comedy leaves no doubt that it's a personal film written by an insider who's still close in age to the main characters, students sharing a frat house in an unamed school--actually, USC, where helmer was student.
Audience Reviews for Defying Gravity
Click the cover to read a summary. My opinion: guys who have already come out and those few who came out very early can have a difficult time relating to how difficult it can be. The basic difficulty here is coming out to yourself, being willing to admit that you are gay. This is not an award winner, but that doesn't mean it is not worth seeing.
Struggle and denial impede the love of a couple who must accept who they are and learn that love conquers all.
The film does a good job of showing what the bashing of Pete Bradley does to Griff his secret lover. It is a well done film considering that it was shot in just a short time. I am glad that it ends happy.
Niklaus Lang, Linna Carter, Nicki Aycox, and Don Handfield go on to become established celebrities. Unfortunately we have seen no more of Daniel Chilson. I think that he was very good in his role as John ("Griff") Griffith.
Perhaps the plot is too simple, but at least it is satisfactorily resolved.
