Reviews for In Too Deep
The latest in a long line of mediocre August releases, this would-be thriller boasts several well acted, interesting characters stuck in a story that is unevenly paced and overly familiar.
In Too Deep doesn’t exactly abound in surprise plot twists. Even so, director Michael Rymer does a satisfying job of infusing the cliches with edgy persuasiveness.
It's great to see the intensely charismatic LL Cool J bouncing back from failed-sitcom oblivion and up on the big screen where he really belongs.
Aaron and Brown's script resounds throughout with astringent dialogue and stark authenticity.
The worst offence committed is a waste of talents in casting powerhouse players Tucci and Grier in stereotype 'other cop' roles.
Epps takes a slug at this brick wall of cliches, and he hits hard enough to make an impression, but there’s just no breaking through a rehashed plot.
