Douglas plays Harry, a one-time prize fighter who embarks on a life-changing road trip with his son Lance (Dan Aykroyd) and teenage grandson (Corbin Allred). Feisty at 80 despite a recent stroke, Harry is faced with the prospect of being sent to a retirement home by his family.

Instead of giving in to a sheltered life, Harry convinces Michael and Lance to join him in search of thirteen long lost diamonds.

Harry leads the younger men on a touching and comic adventure across Nevada, where the trio encounters all sorts of trouble. Along the way, they meet up with pit bosses, gangsters, an intriguing madam named Sin-Dee, portrayed by Lauren Bacall, and the women in her brothel, including the irrepressible Jenny McCarthy.

In the end, Harry and his family discover that nothing is more important than the time they shared together. [More]

  • Ths funny and touching comedy hit features Kirk Douglas (OSCAR, GREEDY) and Dan Aykroyd (BLUES BROTHERS 2000, GHOSTBUSTERS) in a shining cast of great stars! Harry Agensky (Douglas) is a feisty ex-boxing champ who shows that he still has some punch left when he talks his son (Aykroyd) and grandson into taking a road trip from Canada to Reno, Nevada! There, the trio takes up the search for 13 missing diamonds that Harry was promised for throwing a fight years ago! With sexy Jenny McCarthy (SCREAM 3, BASEKETBALL) and the legendary Lauren Bacall (THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES) adding to the already high-spirited hilarity, don't miss your chance to come along for this trio's wild comedy adventure.

Douglas, always one of Hollywood's most vigorous actors, still commands the screen as Harry.

The star's courageous performance is the main attraction of a movie that shamelessly pours on the sentiment.

Douglas, still vigorous at 83, carries the film with one of the best performances of his long career, probably because many of his scenes are straight from the heart.

In technique, Diamonds is rather placid.

[Not] a work of art, or even entertainment, but the filmic commensurate of a crippled panhandler using his handicap to beg for sympathy and change on a streetcorner.

Douglas struggles honorably with his stoke-impaired speech and a shoddy story.

It’s a male-bonding road movie that veers off a weary course filled with dreary clichés on the way to a possible treasure in diamonds. The trip is barely worth it.

Sadly, Kirk Douglas' real-life stroke is the most compelling ingredient in Miramax's new cobbled-together caper flick.

Unless you've just GOT to see what is most likely to be Kirk Douglas's last movie, there's really no reason to see this at all.

A sub-par effort in family drama with Kirk Douglas barely registering above his usual excellence
