Perversely fascinating, Collectors offers a glimpse into a world few knew existed. However, the documentary doesn't offer enough insight as to the motivations of serial art collectors.

Collectors peeks into the world of serial killer art, and those who collect it. It's all very fascinating, but one thing is missing: Hobbs never attempts to probe the minds of Staton ... and Allen to find out what is behind their morbid obsession.
Their ghoulishness is so repugnant it's fascinating.
The effect is coolly appalling.
Clumsily managed and trivialized.
As distasteful as it is compulsively watchable.
The movie has no soul. Watching it is like observing a macabre dog and pony show.
Ultimately, The Collectors surrenders to the same fascination it documents -- gawking in wonder, if not approval.
How far can black humor go before it crosses the line into from mere tastelessness into abject inhumanity? And does the fact that I enjoyed immensely this gruesomely mesmerizing film mean I've crossed that line?
Ultimately [Hobbs's] film doesn't shed much light on the motives that drive Allen, Staton and, by extension, others like them.
Dark and voyeuristically compelling.
As a documentary, Collectors is nothing short of fascinating.
An interesting peek inside a world few people even realize, or want to realize, exists.
