This particular brand of feed, with its false emotions and woefully underwritten script, isn't very palatable.

Six weeks into their blissful courtship, he asks her to move in with him, and they start looking at apartments. But little by little Ray starts to pull away, until Jane realizes that once again she's been dumped. Jane's womanizing coworker, Eddie, just happens to be looking for a roommate, and Jane reluctantly moves in. Desperate to understand what happened, Jane comes up with a theory of interpreting male-female relations by observing the behaviors of wild animals. She shares this idea with a friend who works at a men's magazine (Marisa Tomei) and is given an anonymous editorial column devoted solely to her thoughts on the matter. But no one could have predicted the chord she'd strike among women with her theory, and the column's wild success makes Jane start to question her conclusions--and opens her eyes to what might be right in front of her. Adapted from the novel ANIMAL HUSBANDRY by Laura Zigman, SOMEONE LIKE YOU is a bittersweet, funny romantic comedy, and handsome, charming Hugh Jackman shines as Jane's serial-dating coworker. [More]

Reviews for Someone Like You
The two leads have a nice give-and-take, enlivened considerably by the sexual tension between Judd and Jackman.
Looks like it's going to be the story about one woman's search for Mr. Wrong, a rather original and unsentimental idea. But the film's second-half tone, a combination of light-hearted pity and light-hearted neatness, spoils that.
All over the place, and seems to have been made by embittered married people.
Elizabeth Chandler's script has, by my count, exactly one sort-of-funny line and not a single scene whose comic possibilities are successfully exploited.
There's no shortage of laughs because Elizabeth Chandler's screenplay is witty and acerbic.
Stars Ashley Judd, Greg Kinnear, Hugh Jackman and director Tony Goldwyn are probably all hoping that with a title so blandly nondescriptive, no one will see it, and promising careers will be left unblemished.
Try as you might, you probably couldn't find a more bland, nondescript title for a romantic comedy than Someone Like You.
The film, whose forgettable title is a good indication of its originality, is little more than a collection of Judd's excessive facial expressions and body movements.
Hopefully, a cure will soon be found for this bovine approach to relationship absurdities.
