Six weeks into their... After a series of ill-fated relationships, Jane (Ashley Judd) has finally met Mr. Right, Ray (Greg Kinnear), who is emotionally available, and not afraid of commitment. Six weeks into their blissful courtship, he asks her to move in with him, and they start looking at apartments. But little by little Ray starts to pull away, until Jane realizes that once again she's been dumped. Jane's womanizing coworker, Eddie, just happens to be looking for a roommate, and Jane reluctantly moves in. Desperate to understand what happened, Jane comes up with a theory of interpreting male-female relations by observing the behaviors of wild animals. She shares this idea with a friend who works at a men's magazine (Marisa Tomei) and is given an anonymous editorial column devoted solely to her thoughts on the matter. But no one could have predicted the chord she'd strike among women with her theory, and the column's wild success makes Jane start to question her conclusions--and opens her eyes to what might be right in front of her. Adapted from the novel ANIMAL HUSBANDRY by Laura Zigman, SOMEONE LIKE YOU is a bittersweet, funny romantic comedy, and handsome, charming Hugh Jackman shines as Jane's serial-dating coworker. [More]

The people that populate this picture are refreshingly genuine and multifaceted, with understandable motives and tangible feelings.

A warm, fuzzy picture with enough wit to satisfy most audiences in need of a laugh.

It seemed over-slick, artificial, unpleasantly self-congratulatory -- a pseudo-Nora Ephron yarn set in the SoHo-Greenwich Village area. More damagingly, it's not very funny.

Someone Like You could probably be charitably characterized as 'cute,' but there's such a lack of direction and energy that it could also be described as 'sleep inducing.'

Felt like a bunch of sketch sequences all tied together by the 'cutesy' theory and many scenes of Ashley Judd crying.

The plot is flimsy, the attempts at cuteness fall flat, and the dialogue is banal.

The filmmakers seem to be feeling their way toward a contemporary slant on romance but wind up taking refuge in old-fashioned cliches and trite plot twists.

Trading the much better title of its book source "Animal Husbandry" for a song title "Someone Like You" sums up the unoriginality at work in this film.

An enjoyable dramedy that is fairly obvious in where it is headed right from the start, but in getting there, it surprises in how moving and wise it becomes.
