Unfortunately, Marvin's natural clumsiness and lack of self-esteem have made him the laughing stock of his police coworkers. All of that changes after a freak car accident, and a mad scientist's intervention. When Marvin regains consciousness, he can run faster, jump higher, and smell things no ordinary human should be able to smell, allowing him to perform as a top-notch cop. But Marvin's rival on the police force (John C. McGinley) is out to get him. What's worse, Marvin soon learns that he cannot handle his animal urges. Colleen Haskell from the television show SURVIVOR makes her film debut, and Schneider delivers a terrific performance in a perfect comic role. THE ANIMAL is a hilarious collection of gags and bizarre sights (including Marvin's amorous encounter with a goat) that add up to make this silly, warmhearted comedy. [More]

  • He might not look like much, but it's what's inside that counts. Comic genius Rob Schneider (Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, Big Daddy), TV's Survivor Colleen Haskell, John C. McGinley (Any Given Sunday,The Rock) and Edward Asner (The Bachelor, JFK) star in the most outrageous and hysterical comedy ofthe year. When evidence clerk Marvin Mange (Schneider) answers a 911 call of a burglary in progress, his dream of one day becoming a cop seems to be coming true. But a freak car accident en route to the crime leaves Marvin and his dream a shattered mess. When Marvin awakens a week later, he finds that a deranged scientist secretly used animal organs to rebuild his broken body. Energized by his new and improved parts, Marvin achieves instant fame as a super-cop until his animal instincts start taking over his body at all the wrong times. And when he finds himself falling for the lovely and sexy Rianna (Haskell), it's animal magnetism at its craziest in the funniest and wildest comedy of the year! Don't miss Rob Schneider in Big Daddy.

There are just as many groaners or crudities that could test the patience of even the most avid of Schneider's fans.

While it's true that Colleen gets her backside slapped, that her face is licked by Rob Schneider and that he urinates under her chair as a way of marking his territory, it's no worse than what he does to the audience.

Its inability to muster more laughs than groans will have even Schneider's diehard fans longing for the merely awful Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo.

Schneider and his collaborators throw one lemon after another at the screen without ever bothering to squeeze any comic juice from them.

Expertly blasted are sinister noir conventions, literal slice of life mad scientist creepfest interludes, and just about anything from the werewolf archives.

The movie's selling point is Schneider acting goofy, chewing on worms, making goo-goo eyes at a she-goat and licking his private parts.
