Great coming of age story. It's fun, sad and deep. Everything you want, but feel you can't ask for in a teen drama. The acting is amazing, Cillian Murphy is clearly one of the best actors of his generation and played his role perfectly. There's a whole Cuckoo's Nest feel to it which I really liked, mixed in with Catcher in the Rye. It just makes you wonder what life is worth living for.

For anyone who has watched the film 'Manic' it's a very similar storyline, based inside a Psychiatric Hospital with various characters, who come to life and communicate through their various conditions. A very likeable performance from Cillian Murphy.

"You can never really know what was going through a person's mind at that exact moment. If they survive, they'll never tell you. If they succeed, all you can do is spend the rest of your life feeling guilty. You're only concern can be for the people they leave behind. They're the ones to look out for..."

I enjoyed this because Cillian Murphy and Stephen Rea was in it. Other than Cillian, the other young man was pleasant on the eyes as well. Couldn't relate to the short-haired chick though. Wanted more from this film, but otherwise, it's tolerable. Decent effort.

Okay, this movie totally blind-sided me. I started watching it and couldn't stop. Yes, it's sad, but also very endearing. Is there anything Cillian Murphy CAN'T do?

Movies that take place in mental hospitals usually give me the heebie-jeebies, but I actually liked this one.

Deep within these flesh walls/a raging monster screams/the pain is felt when i'm asleep/and fills my every dreams/to overcome the demons within/i find the light that shone/and called out loud/and guided me/that light inspired me on/when darkness falls across mine eye/a light within does shine/and helps me when the demon screams/that light to me... sublime.

The sorrow and depression are well carried throughout the movie, even with wrong psychological treatment about mental institution, its characters are believable.

On the Edge is an awful blending of A Clockwork Orange (1971), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and Trainspotting (1995). The story is completely uninvolving, irrelevant and terribly boring. The performances lacked depth and I never believed the players were crazy. I couldn't find any rescuable element.
