The never-ending search for Mr. Right takes a surprise detour into totally unexplored territory with PUNKS. This sparkling, rhythm-and-blues-driven romantic comedy is the story of four close-knit friends trying to find that mythical relationship that will make finally make things right. But if you think that sounds familiar, think again, because PUNKS is the first-ever comic love story set amidst the world of African-American gay men.

Terrific entertainment, full of wit and energy, alternately hilarious and serious -- and very sexy.
Infectious and saucy.
Lively, well-acted and directed with assurance by newcomer Patrik-Ian Polk.
Admirable for its candor, its good humor and its bravery.
Thanks to an uninhibited screenplay and the easy, unforced chemistry of its ensemble cast, Punks is mostly good, snappy fun.
Although there are fun and perceptive moments, the script opts for trite sketches of life that ultimately feel forced.
Sad to report, however, it just isn't very good.
While this amiable romantic comedy ... is sure to please most of its target audience, others are going to leave the theater humming that Peggy Lee classic 'Is That All There Is?'
Though frequently festive, Punks' performances are uneven, and the predictable narrative, while avoiding melodramatic traps, slips into sappy ones.
[A] mixture of heavy-handed poignancy, hopefulness in the face of adversity and bitchy dialogue.
While Punks may not break any other cinematic ground beyond its subject matter, it does offer some very funny dialogue, a couple of good performances, and some splendid drag numbers.
Even without the pre-title announcement that this romantic comedy is writer-director Patrik-Ian Polk's first film, it's pretty obvious that we're in the hands of a beginner.
This entertaining film is chock full of Chris' musical numbers, in which he lip-syncs a large portion of the Sister Sledge catalog with his group, The Ladies.
There's no queen like a black queen!!! This was such a fun film. I wish I could find it on DVD.
